Carmen Herrera Catalogue Raisonné
The Carmen Herrera Catalogue Raisonné project was established in 2022 in order to research Carmen Herrera’s paintings and to result in the eventual publication of a catalogue raisonné. This is intended be a scholarly publication documenting all of the artist’s painted work, including entries for each painting with high quality illustrations, and detailed histories of ownership, exhibitions, and literature.

Staff
As the Editor and Project Manager for the Carmen Herrera Catalogue Raisonné, Monica Espinel oversees research, painting examinations, and photography coordination. She is the author of Herrera’s chronology and curated the first exhibition devoted to Herrera’s Estructuras in 2007. Prior to joining the Catalogue Raisonné project, she pursued doctoral studies in Art History at The Graduate Center, City University of New York; was a Research Fellow at the Cisneros Institute of the Museum of Modern Art; and worked internationally for museums, galleries, alternative art spaces, biennials, auction houses, art fairs, and philanthropic initiatives. Monica holds a BS in Psychology from Florida International University and an MA in Art History from Hunter College.
